| Waterlink,
in conjunction with mid
kent water, has developed
the solution to effectively manage discoloured
water in potable distribution networks.
Once installed, the Water Quality
Valve provides an automated, controlled,
low cost flushing of water pipes which is
pre-programmable and virtually maintenance
free.
The units can be installed
anywhere within the distribution network with
minimal disruption to water supply both during
installation and use.
Successful trials have already
been undertaken with mid
kent water,
delivering significant reductions in both
operating and maintenance costs.
Water
Quality Valves have the proven
track record of improving water quality
at known trouble spots, such as either
side of closed boundary valves between
DMA's and cul-de-sac locations, where
reduced flow characteristics often lead
to discolouration.
The
units can be programmed to operate on a timer,
respond to changes in water quality or react
to sudden changes in operating pressure in
order to protect the network against surcharge.
In
each instance, the volume of water discharged
is recorded by the integrated water meter
and can be automatically relayed back to the
control room for leakage control calculations.
Flow rates, ranging from 40
to 200 litres per minute, can be programmed
in the office prior to installation. Each
unit is rain resistant and frost proof with
all electronics encapsulated in epoxy resin.
In
addition all units are fitted with a failsafe
non-return valve and are installed with security
locking covers with a rating of 12.5 tons.

As well as supplying the units,
Waterlink
provides a specialist installation and annual
maintenance service to its customers.
