Water Pressure Booster Pumps for High Rise Flats

The following details and images are taken from recent work carried out by Waterlink in Southampton.

An example of our timetable on one of the installations:

Day 1

Electrician to attend for 1st fix, this involves installing the electrical supplies ready for the pump sets to be installed.

Waterlink plumbing team attend site and deliver materials and prepare for next days installation. This also involved positioning of pipe runs and fabricate electro-fusion components where possible.

Day 2   

(Mains water shut advised to be 8 hours)

(Interruption to landlords electricity supply advised to be 2 hours).

Electrical contractor to disable and make safe supply to existing pump set.

Waterlink team to:

  • drain down system,
  • remove existing pumps,
  • fabricate pipework and
  • connect to new pump set.

Electrical contractor to re-connect electrical supply to new set.
Pump manufacturer’s engineer to commission new set.

Day 3 
Create permanent supports for new pipework.
Check operation of new set.
Clean and clear site.

Electrical contractor to finalise electrical installation.

Allowance for final revisit to return keys etc as necessary, check operation of new set and minor snagging.

In this case there was an Identified asbestos risk which we resolved using our standard procedures

The flash-guards on the fuse cartridges within the electrical control panel associated with the existing pumps are presumed to be asbestos and will be handled in accordance with South East Water's Health and Safety Protocol.

We undertake all Health and Safety risk assessments before work commences.
